Revenge of the Heard

By and by a woman who writes love poems to men

Don’t go outside today

Don’t get out of the house

Sit around the right place there

Don’t move. Don’t go anywhere

Sit around. Keep small like a mouse.

Have dessert first. Then get sick.

Order takeaway, have your pick.

Don’t go anywhere

We know you want to run.

When there’s so much to do

Your head’s ruling you

So stay at home and have some fun!

Look! The TVs been on, calling you in

The mess on the floor is your best

Run up the lights, turn down the noise!

Getting into your head is

The visiting company of your bed.

Loneliness can’t stop you

It’s a way to get oxygen back

There are people out there

So don’t get anywhere, come back!

Take no pleasure in the company of friends

Trying to express yourself

Will only meet dead ends.

The days are green in sunny places

The house looks like your mind

Hide away from funny people

The stress is mounting double time.

But don’t leave the house

You’re better off

Throw your books, magazines and poetry

Out the window, around the block

Eat the takeaway

And take a shower not

Your ego will explain to you

You’re better off without.
